My first Catering Event

What a night!!! I catered my first event and it was quite the experience. 5 teachers from my mom's school are retiring and asked me to cater the event. There were 7 appetizers: Wontons, Bruschetta, Pecan Cheese Ball with crackers, fruit, Antipasta salad,  chicken wraps, quesadillas, guacamole. I was sssoooo nervous but it went very well. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and we had plenty of food.  The past couple of days have been ssoo busy. I am glad it is over! When Jocelynn would go down for her naps I would start preparing the food.
Thank you mom and Jess for helping me. I really appreciate it.
Jessica was great with the quesadillas. We had a great time! "The Heat is On . . . :)"
I never was a waitress but always thought it would be fun!
I counted 75 people sitting and many left!!! It was such a thrill. Who knows this could be just the beginning . . .

A Wonderful Day . . .

Jocelynn and I spent the day with my friend, Deanne and her little boy, Everette. It was such a great day and our little ones were so great. We first had lunch in Old Town San Juan Capistrano, at a place called "The Ramos House Cafe." It was wonderful!! This was the first time I had cinnamon apple beignets (to die for!!!) These cafes are like the old days, its owner lives and works at the house, and everything is made from scratch!
After lunch, we headed to Fashion Island and went shopping. To end the day great, we went across the street to "Sprinkles Cupcakes." I have heard about these cupcakes on Food Network and was sssooo excited to try one. The line was out the door. When I bit into this cupcake, my response was "Oh WoW!" It was so good. Then we drove down Pacific Coast Highway next to the beach. .  .I love California! Thanks Deanne, it was such a great day!!!

Summer TIme!

It was such a hot day we went to the pool to cool off a little. Jocelynn is just relaxing, she couldn't stop looking at the teenagers playing around in the pool. She is very observant and  loves to see what's going on!

Jocelynn loves the water! She enjoys sitting in this floater (thanks Laurie, I had to get one after she used Hailee's).  I can't wait to go in again. It'll be a fun summer!

I love RIBS!

James and I went to eat at Lucilles's BBQ! Our favorite place to eat. I forgot a bib for Jocelynn so she got a big one.

Her hair has been growing and I was able to get this cute bow in her hair. I love this picture of her!

Gerber Graduate!

This age has just been so much fun!! Her naps are longer, she's entertained by anything that's on the ground, and she gets to try so many new foods! I got a little excited in the baby food aisle but it's fun to have her try new things! Her favorites are the Biter Biscuits, Wagon wheels, and Banana Puffs. These are a great tool to distract her when she is a little fussy at church or anywhere else.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

I have gained a new respect for mothers the past 7 months. These 4 women are the most amazing mothers I know!
1. My Mom - She is so patient and has become one of my best friends. She has taught me to be independent and a hard worker. She has also taught me to turn to the Lord for everything! She's a survivor! I woke up in the night till I was about 9 years old (I swear). My poor mom!
2. Grandma Lane (on the left) - Words can't describe this woman. I have so many stories to describe how wonderful she is. I'll just say two. Story 1 - One day I went to visit her and she just got back from a cruise and forgot to drink the rest of the milk before she left so when she came home it was spoiled. She was putting the milk in a measuring cup and I said grandma what are u doing? She said "I am making muffins" (substituting for sour cream I think). The muffins were delicious. Story 2- My grandma's father left them when she was in school and took all the money they had (even the college money saved for her sister). My grandma always had to work and didn't ever go to college. She started a savings when we were little to help us get through school. I can go on and on about her. She has taught me to be grateful for what I have and you don't need material things to be happy.

3. Grandma Gloria (on the right) - My grandma raised 6 children and also has had her own day care called Grandma's Place for over 20 years. She is always so happy and full of life. She loves to hug. She has taught me that no matter what life brings you, it'll be okay.
4. My Mother in law - This woman has raised a wonderful son. She brought him to the US from the Phillippines and I'm grateful for her sacrifice. She is a hard worker and loves to laugh. She is always cooking or cleaning. I wish she lived closer so we could see her more!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day! My dad always says this and it's so true "Everything I am or ever hope to be I owe it to my angelic mother (Abraham Lincoln)." What would we do without our moms!

Rub a Dub . . . I love my Tub!

Jocelynn used to not enjoy her baths. I tried everything. She just hated leaning back so I tried pouring water over her head to get the shampoo out and she prefers that. You would think she would rather lean back then have water in her face but it doesn't bother her.  We got this duck bath as a gift and ever since we have been using it, she is enjoying her baths. YEAH!
I don't worry about her falling to the side or if she leans back it catches her. It's great!

And She's Off . . . .

Jocelynn started crawling a couple of days ago and she is all over the place.
Her favorite things to go after has been the blinds, curtains, and our DVD player (that doesn't make Daddy too happy!)
Uh Oh!  I've been caught!! It has been a blast!!!

Our Sleeping Beauty!

Jocelynn was doing pretty well at night but not the last two nights. Not sure if she's teething (I think her top teeth are coming soon), or if it has been too hot or cold or she just wants mom's company?? This is when I wish she could tell me.  Jocelynn doesn't take a pacifier but loves this teddy bear.
Some days Jocelynn's naps are really long (a couple of hours each) and other days they are not. She rolls around everywhere and I thought this was the cutest with her bottom in the air! (Melinda, I remember you said that was your favorite and I thought it was hilarious when I saw this).
