BFF

Both my nieces are the same age and they were both in California together. They met each other at our wedding, where we made them hold hands and they looked so cute together. They now saw each other again after almost 7 years. They were quiet around each other at first. James played a Basketball game with them and put them on the same team. That's all they needed to warm up to each other and they were inseparable ever since that moment.

It's amazing when kids are around other kids how they become comfortable and their personalities come out. I've never seen that side of Keona and it was fun to see her true self. They spent the night every night together this week. It brought me back to being a kid and having a friend to play with. Those were the days when you would stay up so late talking and wanting to stay up all night but as soon as the movie starts and it gets quiet you're struggling to keep your eyes awake. They had so much in common and loved each others company. They made "Best Friends" bracelets and earrings, even rings. Jordyn came to the airport with me to say goodbye. It was sad. Maybe next year they can meet up again at my place.

Botanical Gardens at UCR

Last Saturday we went to the Botanical Gardens. It was nice to walk around and be outside.
There's a pond that has fish and a ton of turtles. We counted about 8 turtles and we also saw a frog.

Disneyland with our niece

The past couple of weeks have been so busy. Everyday has been a new adventure. My niece, Keona, was with us for the past two weeks and we have been having a great time. She is such a good girl. Jocelynn has been having so much fun having a buddy to play with. Keona has never been to Disneyland so last week was fun taking her. We went to California Adventure one day and then the next day went to Disneyland.

While James and Keona were on the bumper cars we went in the water to play a little bit. Jocelynn was making me laugh because she loved playing in it. Every time the water would hit her, she would bend down. I'm not sure why she wouldn't just run away, maybe she thought if she bent down then it would stop. In this video she kept pointing to this little girls shirt because it had Minnie and Mickey on it. She bends over because the water is hitting her and then makes a run for it. She's so fun! It was a hot day and it was nice to cook off a little.

Dislocated Elbow

Well, tonight was quite eventful. There is never a dull moment when all the Kirk's get together. We were at my mom's house and all the kids were playing. Jocelynn had been walking down the stairs with both cousins holding her hands. All of a sudden I heard her cry and she grabbed her arm and wouldn't move it. My niece Jordyn, said she heard a Pop. It was obvious she was in pain. The has happened to my sister's little boy and they automatically thought it was the same thing that happened to their boy. . .dislocated elbow. After holding her for a little and she wouldn't grab anything with that arm, we went into Urgent Care. I have to admit that I was trying so hard to not let my emotions get to me and not cry. I was trying to be strong but it wasn't easy seeing her in pain. SO I let out a little bit of tears. I made sure she didn't see me and then I was fine.

They immediately took X Rays of her wrist and elbows. That was not fun. She kept holding tight her wrist and wanting Grandma and Keona. The nurse gave her a lot of stickers. I thought "Please don't be broken. A summer with a toddler (that loves water) in a cast would not be fun." We went back to Urgent Care and nothing was broken. I made her a balloon out of the glove and she was happy. The Doctor came in and his name was Dr. Loveless. James started laughing at his name. He said it's probably dislocated and he needed to put it back in place. So my mom held her and I was looking at her face trying to talk to her but that wasn't working. He did it very quick and immediately she started moving her arm again. We made the comment his name shouldn't be "Dr. Loveless, it should be Dr. Lovemore!" She left Kaiser a happy girl and so were we. We gave her Tylenol because he said it might be sore.

Lucky!

Well, I got my blog book! I printed out all the pictures and writing for 2008. It'll be nice to look back throughout the years.

I heard this song on Kost  103.5 today and loved it! I needed to do a little shout out to my husband because I am . . .lucky! I'm so proud of him and the person he has become and who he has always been. Last night he casually says to me before bed that someone from work is leaving the company and his boss asked him to take over his responsibilities! Very exciting! James has always been so humble, nothing is ever a big deal!  Throughout the years we have experienced these exciting moments, that may seem like nothing to others but to us they have been small steps to so much more! He works so hard and never complains. I'm so lucky to be married to him and I look forward to tomorrow. When I met James he was a teller at a Bank . . . I was a courtesy clerk. We have so many dreams, and so many have already come true. Many dreams won't come true but it sure is exciting reaching for them and I am so LUCKY it is with my best friend! Good night!

Janessa's Graduation!

Last week, our niece Janessa, graduated from High School. We made a trip out to Phoenix and had a wonderful time. It always goes by too fast. This was even more exciting because Jocelynn got to meet her grandparents (James's parents) and her aunt for the first time (they live in Texas). Cyan (our niece who is 4) had the sweetest graduation present for Janessa. She sang her a song and made everyone cry. It was a song called "Fly!" She was so into it and is so outgoing.  There were a ton of people there and she didn't care. It was so cute. I recorded some at the bottom of this post. You've got to check it out!
This is James's sister (Jeanette) and her daughter (Janessa). We stayed at the Hyatt but were at Jeanette's house all day and night. We had so much fun just hanging around and being with family. James's family has an exciting, fun energy and you are just happy when you are around them.

Jocelynn held tight to me the first thirty minutes we were there but then quickly became comfortable and ran off playing. She loved their dog, Sweetie.
This is who Jocelynn played with all day and night. I didn't hear much from her because she was with her cousins. Cyan is on the left and Keona is in the middle. Keona came back to Cali with us for two weeks.
Aunt Rosalind (James's sister) got Jocelynn a present. Thanks Rosalind!
Terri (James's Step mom) and Tarra (his sister)
James's sister (Tarra) and Kalani (her boyfriend)
Jocelynn with her Lola (grandma in Tagolag . .spelling?) This is James's mother and Jocelynn gets a lot of her looks from this part of the family (Filipino).
This cute girl is my niece. She is so outgoing and a little DIVA!
Jocelynn loved this dog!
She has always been nervous around Jaylon (our nephew) but I think they bonded this weekend. They did jumping jacks, somersaults, and flips together :)
Jocelynn and Pops (James's dad) also bonded during breakfast. They have this face they make to each other and then start laughing. It's cute. She saw his picture tonight and said "Pops!"
Rosalind (James's sister) and Jocelynn.
This is James's sister and her family.
This is the whole family. All of James's sisters and brother, his mom, step mom, and dad.
James with his dad and younger brother.
I loved our hotel. It was very nice and comfortable. We went back to the hotel late every night and Jocelynn was asleep within minutes. We had a King size bed and just slept together. She slept in the play pen one night but didn't sleep as well as in the bed. This was Sunday during the day. We went back to the hotel to nap and James was asleep within seconds and Jocelynn was shortly after.
This was Monday before we checked out. I tried to get the clock in the background so you could see the time. Jocelynn didn't wake up until 10:45am. She was exhausted!!! We were able to take showers and pack up everything before she woke up.
This is so cute! She is so into the song and you have to watch to the end! She even tells us to "wait . . because she is not finished!" :)
